A 45-year-old woman has been arrested and is being held as a person of interest following the sudden death of a prominent Nairobi doctor who collapsed in Kitengela on Thursday evening.
According to a police report lodged at Kilimani Police Station, Dr. Job Obwaka—a veteran gynaecologist and board director at The Nairobi Hospital—was rushed to the facility by ambulance at around 7:00 p.m. after collapsing while on personal errands.
He had been in the company of Beatrice Wangare, believed to be a business associate. Medical personnel at the hospital confirmed that Dr. Obwaka was dead on arrival.
Officers from the National Police Service visited the hospital and processed the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had a history of medical conditions, though the exact cause of death is yet to be established pending a postmortem examination.
Ms. Wangare has since been taken into custody to assist investigators.
Police emphasized that she is being held as a person of interest as part of ongoing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the doctor’s death.
The body was transferred to Lee Funeral Home, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted.
The case has been recorded as pending under inquiry, with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kilimani leading the probe. Authorities say further updates will be issued as investigations continue.
