Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reinstated County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance Catherine Mutanu following a court order suspending the implementation of her dismissal.
In a statement on Monday, Governor Ndeti said she had received a court order halting the decision to remove Mutanu from office and had directed her to resume her duties pending the hearing and determination of the case.
“As a law-abiding citizen, I respect the rule of law and will fully comply with the court order as the matter proceeds through the judicial process,” Ndeti said.
She said Mutanu would continue serving as the County Executive for Finance with immediate effect in line with the court directive.
“I have therefore directed Hon. Catherine Mutanu to resume her duties as CECM for Finance with immediate effect pending the hearing and determination of the case,” the governor said.
Ndeti wished Mutanu well as she returns to office, adding that the county administration would abide by the judicial process.
The court order comes after the governor’s earlier decision to dismiss Mutanu from the county executive position, a move that had triggered legal action.
The matter will now proceed through the courts, with the final determination set to establish whether the dismissal will stand or whether Mutanu will continue in the role.
