The Office of former President Uhuru Kenyatta has clarified that he is not in a position to host a group of young people who reportedly planned to visit his Ichaweri residence in Gatundu.
In a statement issued Sunday by Secretary of Communication Kanze Dena Mararo, the office said it had noted reports of an intended visit by the youth group to the former Head of State’s rural home.
“The Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, has noted reports of an intended visit by a group of young people to his residence in Ichaweri, Gatundu,” the statement read.
While declining to host the group at this time, the office emphasized that the former president values youth engagement and dialogue.
“The former President deeply respects the energy, ideas, and patriotism of Kenya’s youth. He firmly believes that dialogue between generations is essential for shaping the future of our nation, and he welcomes opportunities for constructive engagement,” the statement said.
However, it added, “we wish to clarify that President (Rtd) Kenyatta is currently not in a position to host the said group.”
The office urged organizers of such visits to formally communicate in advance to allow proper arrangements for engagement.
“We encourage organizers of such initiatives to formally communicate with the Office in advance so that arrangements can be made for structured, peaceful, and meaningful dialogue,” the statement noted.
It further affirmed that the former president remains open to meeting and exchanging views in a manner that promotes unity and mutual respect.
“Kenya belongs to all of us. Let us always choose dialogue over disruption and engagement over division,” the statement concluded.
The brief communication did not indicate the nature of the planned visit or the identity of the youth group.
