Traffic flow along the Iten–Kabarnet Road has been restored following a recent landslide that had blocked a section near Kolol, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced.
In a public notice dated May 5, 2026, KeNHA said the disruption was caused by heavy rainfall currently being experienced across parts of the country, which triggered a landslide and rendered the affected stretch impassable.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify motorists and the public that traffic flow along the Iten–Kabarnet Road near Kolol has been restored,” the agency said.
The Iten–Kabarnet Road, a key الرابط connecting Iten and Kabarnet, had been temporarily closed as authorities worked to clear debris and ensure safe passage for motorists.
Despite the reopening, KeNHA has urged road users to exercise caution, warning that conditions may still be unstable following the heavy rains.
“Motorists are advised to continue exercising caution and to strictly adhere to instructions issued by police officers and traffic marshals on site to ensure their safety as conditions stabilize,” the notice added.
The agency also thanked motorists for their patience and cooperation during the period of disruption.
The incident highlights the growing impact of ongoing heavy rains on infrastructure across the country, with several roads affected by flooding and landslides in recent weeks.
