A baby who was allegedly stolen after the child’s mother was lured with a fake job offer has been rescued by detectives, with four suspects arrested in connection with the incident.
In a statement on Thursday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the infant was safely reunited with the family following an operation by detectives from Embakasi.
According to the DCI, the incident occurred on July 8, 2026, in Pipeline, Embakasi, when the baby’s mother, who was searching for employment, was approached by a man who claimed he could secure her a job at a nearby hotel.
The man allegedly convinced the woman to leave her baby with another woman said to be operating a nearby business while they completed the employment arrangements.
However, after the man disappeared, the mother returned to collect her child only to find that both the woman and the baby had vanished.
Unable to reach either of the two suspects, she reported the matter at Kware Police Station, prompting detectives to launch investigations.
The probe led investigators to Kware Mabatini on July 16, where four suspects were arrested.
The DCI said a search at the residence of one of the suspects led to the rescue of the missing infant, who was found unharmed.
“The child has since been reunited with the mother,” the agency said.
The four suspects were identified as Callen Moraa, Frida Moraa, John Oyweri and Geoffrey Murayi.
They remain in police custody as detectives complete processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
The DCI urged members of the public, particularly job seekers, to remain vigilant against individuals using fake employment opportunities to lure unsuspecting victims into criminal schemes.
