President William Ruto on Sunday began a four-day development tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties, starting with the groundbreaking for the expansion and upgrading of Kisii Stadium.
The visit will see the Head of State oversee a series of infrastructure, education and economic projects across the two counties, as part of the government’s push to accelerate development at the grassroots.
During the tour, the President is expected to attend a football match featuring Shabana FC and later hand over a bus to the team.
He will also hold meetings at Kisii State Lodge with regional leaders, including governors, MPs, MCAs, church representatives and boda boda officials.
Among key projects lined up is the groundbreaking for the construction of Suneka Airstrip in Bonchari Constituency and the inspection of the Kisii Cancer Centre in Nyaribari Chache.
The President will also oversee the launch and inspection of several road projects, including Bobaracho–Manyasi–Tinga, Keumbu–Ibeno and Sameta–Egetuki, as well as Mochengo–Ayora–Maroo and Etago–Ekona–Geteri–Nyamaiya roads in South Mugirango.
In efforts to boost local trade, the President will lay foundation stones and commission markets in various locations, including Ikonge, Kegogi and Nyakoe, alongside similar projects in Nyamira County.
The tour will also focus on expanding education and training infrastructure, with planned construction of Nyamira Kenya Medical Training College, Nyamira Comprehensive School, Keroka Technical Training Institute and Nyangweta KMTC.
Additional projects include student hostels at Nyamache KMTC, Kisii University and Kisii Polytechnic.
Other key projects in the itinerary include the Nyamira and Kisii water supply projects, last-mile electricity connectivity in Nyaribari Chache, the construction of Omingo Bridge and the launch of the Nyachenge Affordable Housing Project in South Mugirango.
The tour comes as the government intensifies efforts to roll out development projects across counties aimed at improving infrastructure, service delivery and economic opportunities.
