NPS Orders Kassim Abdi Sebu to Surrender as 27 Held Over Homa Bay, Kisumu Violence

The National Police Service (NPS) has ordered Kassim Abdi Sebu to surrender to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters as police intensify investigations into violence reported in Homa Bay County.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NPS said Sebu had been linked to the incidents witnessed in Homa Bay on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and should report to DCI headquarters in Nairobi.

The directive comes as police pursue several suspects arrested in connection with violence and alleged criminal activities in Homa Bay and Kisumu.

In Kisumu, police arrested 15 suspects on the eve of the August 16 incidents and recovered various crude weapons from them, according to the NPS.

The suspects have been presented before court, with the cases now proceeding through the judicial process as investigations continue.

Police are also pursuingOliver Jaoko, alias Olivetti, who has been linked to the 15 suspects. The NPS said Jaoko has been ordered to report to the DCI headquarters in Kisumu to assist with ongoing investigations.

In Homa Bay, 12 suspects were arrested and placed on various bond terms, while two others were remanded to facilitate further investigations. The suspects are expected to be produced in court upon completion of the investigations.

The NPS said the arrests and ongoing investigations followed incidents of violence that raised concerns over public safety and order.

The Service thanked members of the public for their continued cooperation with law enforcement agencies and warned that all individuals involved in gang violence and criminal activities would face the law.

“The NPS reiterates that all actors in gang violence and mayhem shall be dealt with severely and firmly within the law,” the statement said.

Police have urged members of the public to continue providing information that could assist investigations as authorities work to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to the violence.

The NPS reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting members of the public.
