Murkomen Announces Major Shake-Up of Regional and County Commissioners

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced a major reshuffle involving Regional Commissioners and County Commissioners in changes aimed at enhancing efficiency, strengthening coordination and improving service delivery across the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration said the transfers, promotions and deployments were informed by the experience, strengths and performance of the affected officers as the government seeks to address emerging security and administrative challenges.

At the Regional Commissioners level, Rhoda Nyaboke Onyancha was transferred from Coast Region to Nairobi while Paul Rotich was moved from Eastern Region to Coast.

Samson Macharia Irungu was redeployed from Western Region to the Office of the President headquarters while Flora Nkatha Mworoah moved from Nyanza Region to the Office of the President headquarters.

The ministry also announced promotions and deployments to Regional Commissioner positions. Jacob O. Muganda, who had been serving as Meru County Commissioner, was promoted and deployed to Eastern Region.

Onesmus Musyoki Kyatha was promoted from Kakamega County Commissioner to Nyanza Regional Commissioner while Allan Machari was deployed from the Office of the President headquarters to Western Region.

The government retained Joshua Muriungi Nkanatha in Central Region, John Odhiambo Otieno in North Eastern Region and Dr Abdi Mohammed Hassan in Rift Valley Region.

At the County Commissioner level, Joseph Kibet Boen was transferred from Kiambu County to Kilifi while Stephen Kutwa Sangolo moved from Baringo to Lamu County. Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru was redeployed from Kericho to Tana River County as John Kiprotich Cheruiyot moved from Samburu to Meru County.

Mwachaunga Mohamed Chaunga was transferred from Kisii to Machakos while Shufaa Omar Mwijuma moved from Nyamira to Kirinyaga County. Alason Hussein was redeployed from Kirinyaga to Trans Nzoia while Wesley Koech Mabwai moved from Lamu to Baringo County.

James Taari Rwaria was transferred from the Principal Assistant to the Regional Commissioner’s office in North Eastern Region to Kakamega County. Benson David Leparmorijo moved from Kisumu to Nyamira while James Gatutha Kamau was redeployed from Marsabit to Kisii County.

The ministry also moved Gideon Nyandiricha Oyagi from Trans Nzoia to the Office of the President headquarters. David Kipkosgei Kiprop was transferred from Isiolo to the Office of the President headquarters while Josephine Auma Ouko moved from Machakos to the same office. David Simiyu Wanyonyi was redeployed from Kilifi to the Office of the President headquarters while Joseph Mwangi Wamuti moved from Tana River to the Office of the President headquarters.

In the fresh deployments announced, Jackson Ngelai Olechuta, who had been serving as Sub County Deputy County Commissioner in Molo, was posted to Garissa County while Ronald O. Enyakasi was deployed from the Office of the President headquarters to Wajir County.

Stanley Ndungu Kamande was moved from Borabu Sub County to Marsabit while George Odhiambo Omolo was transferred from Nandi South Sub County to Isiolo County. Isaac Keter Cheruiyot was redeployed from Masinga Sub County to Samburu County as George O. Matundura moved from Rongo Sub County to Kiambu County.

Ali Omari was also transferred from Kamukunji Sub County to Kericho County.

Murkomen said the changes take effect immediately.
