The board of Kenya Pipeline Company PLC (KPC) has appointed Pius Mwendwa as Acting Managing Director following the arrest of Managing Director Joe Sang.
In a statement issued on April 3, 2026, the board said it had taken note of “ongoing reports and developments” affecting Sang and is working with relevant authorities to determine the full scope of the allegations.
“The Board is monitoring the situation and is in communication with the relevant institutions to understand the nature and scope of the allegations,” the statement said.
Mwendwa, who serves as General Manager for Finance, will take over the duties of the Managing Director in the interim to ensure continuity of operations.
The company emphasized that its activities remain stable and unaffected.
“We wish to assure our stakeholders, shareholders and the public that KPC’s operations remain stable and unaffected,” the board added.
The statement was signed by Faith Bett Boinett, Chairperson of the Board, who said further guidance would be provided in due course.
Headquartered in Nairobi, KPC is a key player in Kenya’s energy sector, responsible for transporting petroleum products across the country and the wider region.
