Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Mombasa and Elgeyo Marakwet counties on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, as the utility undertakes routine maintenance of the electricity network.
In a notice, the company said the planned outages will run between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in most affected areas, with some regions experiencing shorter interruptions.
In Nairobi, power cuts will affect parts of Githurai, including Maziwa, Maziwa Farmers, Co-op Bank and Kahawa West Kamae, as well as surrounding areas.
In Nyari, the outage will impact areas such as Stabex Petrol Station, parts of Gachie Market, Redhill Baraka School, Muchugia Estate, Bishops Estate, Nyari West and Ngecha Road.
At the Coast, parts of Likoni in Mombasa County will also be affected. Areas listed include Diani Beach Hospital, Mrima Primary School, Tenant Purchase, Samaki Poa, Ngumungumu, Kibaki Estate, Mt. Sinai, Ujamaa, Pungu, Vyemani, Shikaadabu, Taifa Gas, Inspiration, Vijijweni, Consolata, Corner Mpya, Bububu, Soweto, Likoni Secondary School, Kiwerera, Mbuta and Third World, among others.
In Elgeyo Marakwet County, interruptions will occur in Katalel Centre and surrounding areas, including Kipsoen Polytechnic, Salaba Primary School, Kiplus Center, Boundary Centre and Silvan Secondary School. The outage in this region is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Kenya Power said the maintenance works are part of ongoing efforts to improve service reliability, facilitate system upgrades and connect new customers to the grid.
Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and switch off electrical appliances during the outage period to prevent damage when power is restored.
The utility conducts periodic maintenance across the country to stabilize the network and enhance electricity supply.
