Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in multiple counties across the country on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving electricity supply.
In a notice, the utility said the outages will affect regions in Mt. Kenya, Nairobi, Central Rift, North Eastern and Coast, with most areas expected to experience power cuts between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
In the Mt. Kenya region, parts of Meru County, including Gitimbene and Kariene, will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting areas such as Gatimbi, Kaguma, Nkabuune Technical and surrounding centres.
In Nyeri County, outages will hit areas including Ark Lodge, Amboni and Bondeni, as well as Kariko, Gichami and Mucharage from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., disrupting supply to residential areas, schools and markets.
Parts of Embu County, including Machanga, Iramuri, Mbondoni and Makima, will also be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
In the Nairobi region, sections of Parklands in Nairobi will experience outages during the same hours, with areas such as 4th and 5th Parklands Avenue, Wangapala Road, Masari Road, Diamond Plaza and surrounding locations affected.
In the Central Rift region, Kenya Power said parts of Nakuru County, including Gilgil and Diatomite areas, will face power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting residential estates, institutions and businesses.
Meanwhile, in the North Eastern region, parts of Kiambu County, specifically Limuru Town and surrounding areas, will also experience outages within the same timeframe.
At the Coast, sections of Mombasa County, including Likoni, Mrima Primary and Pungu Villa, will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Kenya Power said the maintenance works are necessary to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the electricity network.
The company advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and switch off electrical appliances during the outage period. Residents were also cautioned to treat all power lines as live once electricity supply is restored.
While the scheduled interruptions may inconvenience businesses and households, the utility said the upgrades are part of ongoing efforts to ensure stable and improved power supply across the country.
