Residents in several parts of Kenya should prepare for scheduled Kenya power outages on Sunday, April 19, 2026, as the Kenya Power undertakes routine maintenance across key regions.
In a public notice, the utility company said the planned interruptions will affect sections of Nairobi, Garissa County, and Kisumu County at different times throughout the day.
In Nairobi’s South region, areas along Likoni Road, Road C, and parts of Mombasa Road will experience outages from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected locations include industrial and commercial premises such as Capital Laundry, Park View Apartments, and sections near Panari Hotel and Equity Bank.
Meanwhile, in Nairobi’s North region, parts of Buruburu and Makadara are scheduled for a shorter interruption between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., impacting areas around Jogoo Road, Uhuru Market, and the Makadara Law Courts.
In the North Eastern region, the outage will cover the whole of Garissa town from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting key institutions including Garissa Referral Hospital, Garissa University, and county government offices.
Western region customers in Kisumu County—specifically Kenya Re Estate and the Ogambo area—will also face a full-day interruption, with locations such as Jomo Kenyatta International Sports Ground and surrounding residential estates listed among those affected.
Kenya Power said the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve reliability and efficiency of electricity supply.
“The interruption is necessary to facilitate essential network upgrades and ensure better service delivery to our customers,” the notice stated.
The company has advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
