Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in multiple counties across the country on Thursday, April 9, 2026, as part of routine maintenance and network upgrades.
In a public notice, the utility said the outages will largely occur between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., with some areas experiencing interruptions from 8.00 a.m..
In Nairobi County, power supply will be interrupted in parts of Parklands, including sections of General Mathenge, Ring Road, Suswa Road, Kusi Lane, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th Parklands, Mpaka Road, Wangapala Road, Ngao Road and Eldamaravin Road.
The outage will also affect parts of Umoja II, including St. Veronica Catholic Church, Face to Face area, Ahero pubs, Umoja 2 Zone 8, Tumaini School and Kifaru School.
In Kajiado County, areas in Kitengela will be affected from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., including Ideal, Bonito Estate, Church Road, Temple, Danka, Stage 3, Maasai Flowers, Acacia Paradise, Guango, KISC, Pazuri Estate, Olerai, Acacia Crest School, Optiven, Chief Muntunkei, Marvel Green, Enkacity Resort, Kwa Mama Ngina, Carnation Flowers, Lake Oil, CSI Ministry, Ostrich Farm and Isinya.
In Kiambu County, the blackout will affect Kibichoi and Komothai, including Marige, Komothai Boys, Kibichoi shops, Komothai Girls, Githioro shops, Gathugu, Kigumo shops and Gathiruiini shops.
In Nyeri County, electricity supply will be interrupted in Thangathi and Kiuu areas from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting Ithanjii, Gataro, Kiuu, Gitino, Mbugwa, Nguyoini, Ujamaa and Maseno.
In Kitui County, outages will affect Migwani, Musuani and Kyamboo from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., including Musuani, Thokoa, Kwa Soo, Kea, Nzauni Primary, Nguuni Hills, Kabemba Primary, Migwani, Kyamboo, Itumbi, Itoloni Borehole, Nzeluni, Mwanzilu and parts of Kwasiku.
In the Coast region, parts of Mombasa County will experience outages in Nyali, VOK and Bombolulu, including Ores Estate, Nyali Plaza, Oshwal, Enclave, Beach Road, Salama Estate, Simba Estate, Kisumu Ndogo, Frere Town, Makaburini, Fair Deal, Nature Waters, Harambee Estate, Kongowea Primary, Mohammed Ali offices, Kilima Road, Maweni, Old Mugoya, Ziwa la Ng’ombe, Bungoni, Sheikh Halifa, Yasmin Waters, Bombolulu Workshop, Double Laundry, Bandari Quarters, Marianist Catholic Church and Hakika Flats.
In Kilifi County, power will be interrupted in Kakoneni and Jilore, including Jilore, Kakoneni Market, Kakoneni Girls and Sosoni.
Further outages are expected in Tana River County, affecting parts of Masalani town and surrounding areas.
In Taita Taveta County, electricity supply will be interrupted in Sikujua and Mwakingali, as well as Tausa, Lukasinya and Mlundinyi, covering areas such as Mabomani, Mwakingali Mnara, Ndome, Ndile, Salaita and surrounding areas.
In Murang’a County, the outage will affect Kamangu and Runana, including Kamangu, KARI, Rumwe and Mugumo-ini.
In the South Nyanza region, parts of Kisii County will be affected, including Keroka town, Ichuni and Nyanturago. Areas listed include Keroka Hill Top Hotel, St. Charles Lwanga, Ichuni Girls, St. James Ichuni Secondary School, Keroka TTC, Nyanturago Secondary School, Nyamasibi Market, Masisi Secondary School, Hotel Ya Abuga, Matibo Secondary School, Hema Chitago Secondary School and Nyamageza Secondary School.
Additional outages in Kisii will affect Nyangweta, Etago and Ekona, including Kenyenya Primary, Nyangweta SDA Secondary School, Etago Market, Nyamsembe, Nyakeyo, Suguta, Moticho, Engou, Nyabera, Nyamaiya, Ekona, Mogenda, Ochodororo and Maroon.
Kenya Power said the planned maintenance is necessary to improve reliability and stability of electricity supply across the network.
The company advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and to treat all electricity lines as live during the outage period.
