The Kenya Power & Lighting Company has announced a scheduled power interruption set to affect multiple regions across the country on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, as part of routine maintenance works.
In a notice, the utility said the planned outages are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of the electricity network, a process it undertakes periodically to improve service delivery.
In Nairobi County, areas along Kinanda Road—including Kitisuru Road, Ngecha Road, Lakeview, and parts of Kitisuru estates—will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Parts of Nandi County, specifically Kaimosi and Chepumia, will be affected between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., impacting locations such as Kaimosi Bible College, Chepumia, and surrounding areas.
In Kisumu County, Onyinjio and nearby centres including Asol Dispensary, Lunga Market, and Ombo Primary School will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, in the Coast region, parts of Kilifi County—notably Mtwapa and Matsangoni—will also be affected during the same hours.
Areas such as Mtwapa Sub-County Hospital, Moorings Hotel, and Gede Forest are among those listed.
In the Mt Kenya region, sections of Nyeri County including Kigetuini and Kangure will experience outages from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Kenya Power has urged affected customers to plan accordingly, noting that electricity supply may be restored earlier than the scheduled time if maintenance works are completed ahead of schedule.
The utility regularly issues such notices to inform the public of planned interruptions aimed at enhancing reliability and accommodating new connections to the national grid.
