Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity outages across several parts of the country on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, as it undertakes routine maintenance on its distribution network.
In a notice, the utility said the planned interruptions will affect areas in Nairobi and at least seven other counties, with most outages set to occur between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
In Nairobi, parts of Westlands including General Mathenge, Ring Road, Eldama Ravine Road and areas around West Wood Hotel will be affected. Sections of Kayole along Spine Road—such as Komarock Phases 3, 3A, 3B, 4 and 5, Komarock Heights, Infill A Phase 2 and Nyama Villa Estate—will also experience power cuts.
In Nakuru County, the outage will cover areas including NYS Barracks, Ngomongo, Milimani, Kigogo and Mawingu, while in Bomet County, supply will be interrupted in Ndanai, Tembiyo, Kipsingei, Kagasik and surrounding markets.
Parts of Uasin Gishu County will also be affected, including Mbacho and Musembe—where the outage will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.—as well as Maili Nne Centre and Emkoin, where electricity will be off until 5:00 p.m.
In Kisumu County, areas around Great Lakes University, Fishpond, Kajulu, Gita Market and Nyabondo will experience outages, while in Kakamega County, a wider section including Malava, Shamberere, West Kenya Sugar Company and surrounding areas will be affected from as early as 8:00 a.m.
The maintenance will also impact parts of Meru County, including Kisima, Embori, Naari and nearby farms and markets, as well as areas in Nyeri County such as Kiamabara, Mungetho, Kiganjo, Chaka and Mbiriri.
Kenya Power said the planned works are necessary to improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply across its network.
The company advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and disconnect electrical appliances during the outage period to avoid damage once power is restored.
