Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of four counties on Monday, March 23, 2026, as the utility undertakes routine maintenance to improve power reliability.
In a notice, the company said the scheduled outages will affect sections of Laikipia County, Kajiado County, Bomet County and Nyeri County, with supply expected to be interrupted for several hours during the day.
In Laikipia County, areas of Ngobit and Withare will be without electricity from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected locations include Ngobit Market, Kahuruko, Kona Mbaya, Oltaveta, Kiambiriria, Sirima and surrounding areas.
Parts of Kajiado County under the Nairobi region will also experience outages between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The areas affected include Kimana, Ilasit and Njukini, with interruptions expected in Loitoktok Town, Amboseli, Ngong Narok, Entarara, Rombo, Ilerai, Imbirikani, Mashuru and nearby centres, including industrial zones such as Simba Cement.
In the Central Rift region, Kenya Power said parts of Bomet County—namely Kapset, Kapkilaibei and Changoi—will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The outage will impact trading centres such as Kimari, Tet, Chemalal and Kapset, as well as Kapkilaibei and Chebangang markets and adjacent customers.
Meanwhile, in the Mt. Kenya region, sections of Nyeri County including Wandumbi and Kamahoru will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Institutions such as Wandumbi Secondary School and Wandumbi Special School are among those expected to be affected.
Kenya Power said the maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade its network, enhance efficiency and reduce unplanned outages.
The utility advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and to switch off electrical appliances during the outage period.
It also cautioned residents to treat all power lines as live once electricity supply is restored.
While the scheduled interruptions may inconvenience businesses and households, the company maintains that the works are necessary to ensure a more stable and reliable electricity supply in the long term.
