Kenya Airports Authority Appoints Moses Wekesa as Managing Director

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has appointed Moses Wekesa as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 14, 2026.

In a statement, the authority said Wekesa brings extensive experience in business development and infrastructure management, having previously served as Business Development Director at KAA, where he spearheaded the company’s core growth agenda.

KAA said his leadership will be instrumental in advancing the authority’s strategic objectives, particularly as Kenya positions itself as a regional aviation and logistics hub.

“Mr. Wekesa’s expertise extends to the wider infrastructure sector, equipping him to advance Kenya’s aviation infrastructure,” the statement read.

Wekesa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (Applied Mechanics) from the University of Nairobi.

He also has postgraduate qualifications in finance, appraisal and project planning from the University of Bradford.

The board, led by Chairman Major (Rtd) Iltasayon Neepe, congratulated Wekesa on his new role and expressed confidence in his ability to steer the authority forward.

At the same time, the board thanked outgoing acting Managing Director Dr. Mohamud Gedi for his service, noting his role in ensuring a smooth transition and advancing KAA’s modernization initiatives.

The authority highlighted ongoing transformation projects, including the modernization and expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, aimed at strengthening Kenya’s position as a key aviation hub in the region.

KAA is mandated to develop, manage and operate airports across the country, playing a critical role in facilitating aviation excellence and supporting economic growth.
