KCB Bank has signed two strategic MOUs aimed at transforming Kenya’s leather industry into a globally competitive and export-ready sector.
In partnership with the Kenya Leather Development Council, the bank will strengthen the industry’s ecosystem through investment, coordination, and capacity building.
The initiative also seeks to improve access to financing, infrastructure, and international market linkages, enabling Kenya’s leather products to compete effectively on the global stage.
A second collaboration with Alpharama Limited and Ranch Experts targets scaling processing capacity and establishing a structured, end-to-end value chain.
By connecting producers directly to manufacturers and international buyers, the partnership facilitates industrial growth and enhances value addition within the sector.
Analysts say these MOUs could transform Kenya’s leather industry from a largely domestic-focused sector into a key player in global trade.
Farmers and producers stand to gain more reliable demand, better prices for hides and skins, and a clear pathway into international markets, boosting Kenya’s export revenues.
KCB emphasized that creating a globally competitive leather industry requires coordinated efforts along the entire value chain—from rural producers to manufacturers and exporters—ensuring sustainable growth, innovation, and international market readiness.
