KCB Bank has signed two strategic MOUs aimed at modernizing Kenya’s leather industry and creating a more connected, competitive value chain.
In collaboration with the Kenya Leather Development Council, the bank will focus on strengthening the industry’s ecosystem through investment, capacity building, and coordination, while expanding access to financing, infrastructure, and market opportunities for leather businesses across the country.
A second agreement with Alpharama Limited and Ranch Experts aims to scale processing capabilities and build an end-to-end value chain.
The initiative will link producers directly to manufacturers and global markets, enabling industrial growth and supporting enterprises within the sector.
For leather farmers, the partnerships promise more stable demand, better prices for hides and skins, and clearer pathways to formalized, profitable markets.
By addressing long-standing gaps such as fragmented supply chains and limited local value addition, the collaborations are set to modernize the industry and make Kenya a stronger player in the global leather market.
KCB emphasized that for the sector to thrive, all players—from farmers to manufacturers—must move in unison, creating a cohesive and sustainable leather ecosystem.
