Tucked away in the quiet outskirts of Kitui town, far from the dust and noise of the central business district, stands one of the county’s most striking private investments — Kitui Villa Ubuntu Village.

It is a multimillion-shilling boutique hotel owned by President William Ruto’s advisor, Prof. Makau Mutua.

Once a private residence, the property was converted into a registered hotel in 2018 and officially opened its doors on July 10 the same year, with the aim of offering guests a true “home away from home” experience.

Located in Ngiini village, about two kilometres from Kitui town CBD along the Kalundu–Mutune Road, the villa enjoys a strategic setting that combines accessibility with tranquillity.

Boutique Transformation

Kitui Villa Ubuntu Village blends modern design with a calm, natural setting, positioning itself as the premier hospitality destination in Kitui County

The property features 55 rooms, including 38 executive deluxe rooms, seven cottages and two presidential suites.

Each unit is fitted with modern amenities such as air conditioning, smart TVs, Wi-Fi, private balconies, mini bars and coffee makers.

A backup power generator ensures uninterrupted service, while tasteful interiors reflect understated luxury.

Premium Amenities

Beyond accommodation, the villa offers a complete hospitality experience. Guests can enjoy fine dining at the Chef’s Room, relax at the Ubuntu Village Bar, or unwind at the pool deck bar and lounges.

Wellness facilities include a health club, massage and jacuzzi services, and a swimming pool. The expansive grounds also feature bird-watching spots and a popular nyama choma ranch.

Tourism Gateway

Kitui Villa Ubuntu Village also serves as an ideal base for exploring Kitui County’s top attractions.

Visitors can access the Kitui National Reserve, Nzambani Rock, Kanyonyo Wildlife Conservancy, Mutito Hills, Muumoni Hills Forest and the scenic Ngomeni Rock Outcrop with ease.

After a busy day, guests can retreat to the villa’s serene environment or enjoy Kitui town’s vibrant nightlife nearby.

Since opening, the hotel has steadily built a reputation for excellence, symbolising Kitui’s growing appeal as a destination for high-end hospitality, investment and tourism.
