The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that by-elections will be held on May 14, 2026 in three electoral areas across the country.
In a public notice, the electoral body said voters will head to the polls to elect a Member of the National Assembly for Emurua Dikirr Constituency and Members of County Assembly in two wards.
The ward-level elections will take place in Porro Ward and Endo Ward.
IEBC said polling stations will open at 6.00 a.m. and close at 5.00 p.m., urging eligible voters in the affected areas to turn out in large numbers and exercise their democratic right.
“The Commission encourages all registered voters in the affected electoral areas to participate in the by-elections and elect their representatives,” the notice read.
The by-elections follow vacancies that arose in the respective positions, prompting the electoral body to initiate the process in accordance with the law.
The commission also directed candidates and political parties interested in the contests to obtain details of the electoral process through the official gazette notice available on its platforms.
IEBC has in recent months been preparing for a series of by-elections as part of its mandate to ensure representation whenever electoral seats fall vacant.
