Fuel Prices across the country are expected to increase dramatically following the latest review.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has released updated maximum pump prices for the period April 15 to May 14, 2026, with motorists across the country set to pay higher rates for petrol, diesel and kerosene.
In its latest monthly review issued under the Petroleum Act, EPRA said the price of Super Petrol has risen by KSh28.69 per litre, while Diesel has increased by KSh40.30 per litre. The price of Kerosene remains unchanged.
The latest pricing shows regional variations, with coastal towns remaining relatively cheaper while inland towns record higher costs due to transport and distribution factors.
In Mombasa, a litre of Super Petrol will retail at KSh 203.69, Diesel at KSh 203.56, and Kerosene at KSh 149.49, making it one of the lowest-priced regions due to its proximity to the port.
In Nairobi, motorists will pay KSh 206.97 per litre of petrol, KSh 206.84 for diesel and KSh 152.78 for kerosene, reflecting moderate pricing compared to other parts of the country.
Other major towns are also experiencing price increases. In Kisumu, petrol will retail at around KSh 206 per litre, while diesel will go for about KSh 207. In Nakuru, petrol and diesel will both retail at approximately KSh 206 per litre.
In Eldoret, motorists will pay about KSh 206 per litre of petrol and KSh 207 for diesel, placing the town within the mid-to-upper pricing bracket.
Meanwhile, some towns in central and northern regions continue to record higher pump prices. In places such as Nanyuki, petrol prices rise to about KSh 209.94 per litre, with diesel and kerosene also reflecting elevated costs due to distance from supply hubs.
The regulator attributes the price adjustments to global oil market trends and supply chain dynamics. As a net importer of petroleum products, Kenya remains vulnerable to fluctuations in international crude oil prices.
The revised prices are expected to have a ripple effect on transport and the cost of goods, with consumers likely to feel the impact across various sectors.
The new rates will remain in force until the next monthly review by EPRA.
