Four suspects have been arrested in Kisii after police recovered a homemade firearm, knives and other crude weapons during a late-night operation at the town’s bus park.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said officers from Kisii Central Police Station acted on information from members of the public regarding a suspicious gathering shortly after midnight.
Police said the suspects attempted to flee when officers arrived at the scene, scattering in different directions before they were cornered and arrested.
The four were identified as Evan Makori, Robert Omosa, Peter Kuria and Moses Kariuki.
According to the DCI, a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a homemade pistol loaded with a live 9mm round.

Officers also recovered two knives, a hammer and other items believed to have been intended for criminal activities.
“The operation culminated with the arrest of Evan Makori, Robert Omosa, Peter Kuria, and Moses Kariuki,” the agency said in the statement.
The suspects are currently in police custody undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
The DCI commended members of the public for providing timely information that enabled the operation, reiterating its commitment to combating crime and enhancing public safety.
