Motorists using the Mai Mahiu–Suswa–Narok (B7) Road have been warned of major disruptions after sections of the highway were affected by flooding and silt deposits following heavy rainfall.
In a traffic advisory issued on Wednesday, Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) said the affected areas are located around Kedong Ranch near Suswa, where runoff water has rendered parts of the road impassable.
The authority said efforts are underway to clear the debris and restore normal traffic flow, with teams working to reopen the affected sections as quickly as possible.
Motorists have been cautioned against attempting to drive through flooded areas, with KeNHA urging road users to strictly follow instructions from police officers and traffic marshals on the ground.
“As the area continues to receive heavy rainfall, motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution,” the agency said, noting that the most affected stretch lies between Naivasha Inland Container Depot (ICD) at kilometre 14 and Suswa Ranch at kilometre 39.
Drivers yet to begin their journeys have been advised to use the Narok–Njoro–Nakuru (B18) Road as an alternative route to avoid delays and potential danger.
KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli assured road users that the authority is working round the clock to restore safe passage and minimise disruption caused by the adverse weather conditions.
The advisory comes amid ongoing heavy rains in parts of the country, which have continued to affect transport and infrastructure, raising concerns over road safety in flood-prone areas.
