The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari at PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub-County.
In a press release issued on May 9, 2026, the DCI said the arrests followed extensive forensic and intelligence-led investigations conducted by officers drawn from the Homicide Unit, Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CR&IB), Operations Support Unit (OSU), and officers from Nakuru North.
According to investigators, Reverend Ngari was killed during an attack at the church on the night of May 3, 2026. During the incident, the church watchman, Bernard Nyamwaka, was seriously assaulted and later hospitalized.
The DCI said the attackers broke into the church office and the reverend’s residence, making away with cash, mobile phones and other valuables.
“Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime. The suspects were found in possession of valuables confirmed to be among the items stolen from the late Reverend,” the statement said.
Authorities added that the suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation as detectives continue with investigations into what they believe could be a wider criminal network linked to the killing.
The agency said investigators are carrying out advanced forensic analysis and reviewing critical evidence to establish the full circumstances surrounding the murder and identify any additional suspects involved.
The DCI strongly condemned the attack, describing it as senseless and violent, while assuring the public that all efforts are being made to ensure everyone linked to the crime is brought to justice.
“As the investigation continues, the Directorate commiserates with the family, friends and congregants of the late Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari and extends heartfelt condolences to them,” the statement added.
The agency also wished the injured watchman, Bernard Nyamwaka, a swift and full recovery.
The DCI further commended members of the public and the wider Presbyterian Church of East Africa fraternity for remaining calm and cooperating with investigators during the probe.
