Bolt Dismisses Claims of Kenya Exit, Says Viral Notice Is Fake

Ride-hailing company Bolt Kenya has dismissed reports that it plans to exit the Kenyan market, describing a widely circulated notice claiming it will cease operations next week as fake.

In a statement issued on Monday, Bolt said the document, which has been shared across social media and messaging platforms, falsely purports to be an official communication from the company and incorrectly claims that Bolt will stop operating in Kenya from June 8, 2026.

“It has come to our attention that a fraudulent document purporting to be an official communication from Bolt Kenya is currently circulating on social media and messaging platforms. The document falsely claims that Bolt will cease operations in the Kenyan market effective 8th June 2026,” the company said.

Bolt categorically denied the claims, insisting that it remains fully operational in Kenya and continues to serve drivers, customers and business partners across the country.

“We wish to categorically state that this document is FAKE and did not originate from Bolt Kenya or any of its authorised representatives,” the company said.

The firm further reassured stakeholders that its services would continue uninterrupted, adding that it remains committed to providing safe, reliable and innovative transport solutions while creating economic opportunities for Kenyans.

“We would like to reassure our community that Bolt continues to operate normally in Kenya and remains focused on delivering safe, reliable, and innovative services while creating economic opportunities across the country,” the statement added.

Bolt said it has launched investigations into the source of the fabricated document and warned that appropriate action would be taken against those responsible for creating and spreading the false information.

The company also urged members of the public not to share the fake notice and instead rely on official communication channels for verified information.

“Please disregard the circulating document in its entirety, refrain from sharing or amplifying this misinformation, and rely solely on official communications from Bolt Kenya through our verified channels,” the company said.
